Oh, this book. What a GIFT Patti Smith gave to all of us! What an artist’s dream to be able to dive into this world, into this relationship, and into their individual creative processes.

Confession: part of why I’m a little late getting this out to you tonight is because I had a good long cry after finishing it this morning. I needed a bit to release it. Just brutal. What a heartbreak. But what a couple of beautiful, brave lives.

It’s such a rare treat to be able to learn the intricate ups and downs of an artist’s story of becoming. Patti Smith is our generous grandmother of the arts these days. (Please tell me you follow her on Instagram!)

But she first began as a real wild one living a wild life. And that’s who we’re exploring today. The wild one in the process. Like all of us, walking the crooked story into our truest selves.

“‘Patti, nobody sees as we do,’ he told me.”

The Wolf Den is an exclusive section of my Substack only for female artists. We’re reading books & changing our lives. (THAT’S ALL!) If you’re a female artist (or you’re a woman who just longs for something more), get in here. It’s $5 a month (more info here):
